TRICK THEM!
Install timers on lights in several rooms, and set them to go on and off at different times.
TRIM THEM!
Make sure ladders or tree limbs that could easily help someone access the home are put away and/or trimmed.
HIDE THEM!
When hiding keys outside the home, burglars KNOW the commons spots. Be inventive or better yet, leave them with a trusted neighbor.
Are you traveling during the holidays?
- Have a trusted neighbor or friend pick up any newspapers on the driveway, and take in the mail. When these items pile up, people KNOW you are not home.
- Consider installing a video doorbell to monitor action and deter unwelcome visitors.
And this is a big one – Avoid posting any status updates on social media about travel plans.
